Powerwalk – 8 weeks
Four powerwalks a week growing from 45 to 75 minutes, one full-body workout and mobility. Powerwalking is an underrated form of cardio: low injury risk, doable every day and burns more than many think – roughly 60–70 percent of what easy jogging does in the same time.
How it works
Pace: 6–7 km/h, arms swinging actively, warm and slightly out of breath but able to talk. That is roughly zone 2 – a pace where the body uses a lot of fat for fuel and where the aerobic base is built. You do not need a heart-rate watch: the talk test goes a long way.
Time rises by ten minutes every other week. Better four 45-minute sessions than one three-hour march.
The full-body workout
One strength workout a week is often enough to keep muscle when the focus is cardio, and stronger legs make the walk easier.
Variety
Change routes, add hills in weeks 5–8, bring poles if you want the upper body involved. Boredom is one of the most common reasons people quit – not fatigue.
